The New Stuff

So I have changed my blog up a bit with the help of a friend, (Thanks Kaitlyn!) and can't wait to get to work on my new posts.  Stuff should be going up on Mondays, since I have time on Mondays between college classes. If you want to know more about me as a person, I have added an "About Me" page, so you can actually find out something about me rather than wonder.  So, the next thing... What do y'all want to see? Let me know in the comments,  and we can start working together. Sound good? I will be doing some posts on sports, and stuff that I do, but y'all should have a voice too!  So, I'll let you get back to reading blogs, like you have been doing. Enjoy! 😁😁                       ~Tabby~

Stuck at home, tired of Fearmongering

A lot of my friends were complaining about how they had to get up early to go to school. And then the PANDEMIC hit. Oh no. So scared. I can't leave my house or I'll get INFECTED!!!! Okay, not really. I had to go to class every day for a month. Still COVID Free! And I haven't even been exposed. However, the freakin mask thing is stupid. It is a hazard to some people's health. And you can't even get INTO some places without a mask. When is this fearmongering going to stop? Why hasn't it stopped already? I was looking up things to do online because I was bored and wanted something to do, and guess what? It was all stuff you had to order online cause you couldn't go to the store because they weren't open DUE TO COVID! Okay, in Kansas (According to whoever is reporting all of these numbers) there have been about 20,194 confirmed cases of "COVID" and guess how many deaths to those 20,194 cases? 300. It sounds like a lot, but guess what? It is a LOT ...

Up to some good

So life is at it again. I am now taking an EMT class, which is amazing, and I am also working for both my father's company and for Chick-fil-A. I am really excited about the EMT class because it is something I always wanted to do. I really can't wait until the end of the semester. Because we (those in the class that qualify) get to take our state board exam. If we pass that, guess who gets to move on with their career? If we fail, then we have to take the class again, learn everything again, and hope we pass the second time. And if third times the charm doesn't end up applying, you have to wait something like ten years to take the class again. And hope everything you learned doesn't expire in that time. I really want to pass the class the first time... But we'll see how that works. So let's get this down! I also have been going through some interesting stuff. See, apparently, it is bad for you to just skip meals. Mostly if you skip multiple of them in a row. W...

Again With Life

Whelp here's to life! Life is at it again. I have started my EMT class, and am loving it so far. I also managed to injure myself, so that's wonderful. I have to get a physical done and am pretty sure that this injury is going to be a problem. I am really loving life because I know that I can do what I have to do, do what I want to do, and succeed in whatever I really commit myself to. So are you going to commit yourself to something? Do you like something enough to commit to doing it no matter what happens? Are you willing to take a calculated risk on something that you enjoy? I know this post was short, but it is supposed to make a point. Have you figured out that point yet? Have fun!!!! Tabby.

Life Update

Recently I got a job at Chick-fil-A, recently being this is my week of work (including training.) It is interesting working here. If you have ever been to a Chick-fil-A, you know that their table markers are color-coded. However, that is a bit of a challenge for mee. See, when I was taking Interior Design classes I was on my way to class one morning, and actually had a single-vehicle accident, and hit my head on the upper console for the rear heater/AC. Since then I have been slowly going color-blind. While it kinda sucks that I can't see color (especially since I love painting) I have gotten over it. I painted a sunrise fairly recently, and it is my first painting as a colorblind person, and it turned out (according to others) beautifully. I gave it to our new pastor and his family, and they loved it. I cannot wait to continue painting. There is a possibility that I will film a video of me painting as a colorblind person. Someone suggested that I label my paints, so I don't h...

Using skills people didn't know you had

Most people think that you have one specific skill set, and they take advantage of that. However, if you spent your childhood baking like me, and that is something you love to do, then why not make use of that skill when most people think you are just a whiz with a computer? Just because you make a living (or just barely one!) doing something you're good at, doesn't mean you have to give up something else you're good at! Let's go back to the baking example, shall we? Let's say, someone is really good at baking and can make a killer batch of Soft Molasses Cookies. However, in their everyday life, they work as an online promotions manager and no one really knows they can bake, because they spend all of their time online promoting a brand or company for their paycheck. They could easily do that for X amount of time, then when they get off work, they can go into the kitchen and make two or three batches of cookies, and each batch produces, say six dozen cookies. Now it...

Pageant Pressure is REAL!

When you think of a pageant, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Leave your answer in the comments, because I really want to know. Do you think of the very beautiful, talented, "perfect-body-type" competitors? Or do you think of the huge crowns, money, travel opportunities, and other things the chosen competitor receives when she wins the title of Miss "Local", Miss "State" or Miss America. Or is it Miss "Country", and then Miss Universe? It all depends on how you view pageants. I, myself, am a competitor in pageants. Now before you go judging me, hear what I have to say. I am doing it purely for fun. Granted, it is very expensive fun, but then again so is Disney Land/World, Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, and other places. For example, in Kansas City there is a place called the Great Wolf Lodge. A lot of fun and a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. I'd have to save all of my tips for two years to spend a week there. And I make some p...

Bowling!!!!!

Okay, I know... Very little about bowling. I know what a spare is, what an open is, hat a strike is, and what a split is. And a little bit about the scoring. But working at a bowling alley doesn't make me a pro bowler. In fact I am very bad at bowling. Instead of using the approach, I walk up to the foul line and throw the ball. And hope I hit the pins instead of get a gutter ball. Not that great at bowling. But it can be fun to bowl when you want to just hang out with friends. Or your siblings. In fact, I get my brother to go bowling with me sometimes, just so we van spend time together. It is a lot of fun. I have a friend that went bowling for his 21st birthday with his brothers and cousin. And all of them got gutter balls except him! Don't ask how, because I have no idea. He got a strike. Which made the whole situation funny. I only know all of this because my brother went with them, and one of his brothers recorded the entire thing, and posted it. Haha! Funny.

Classic Literature

I Love reading classic literature. For instance, my most recent visit to the library yielded an autobiography about William Allen White, a biography about the great Benjamin Franklin, a couple of books by Maya Angelou, and a book called "The Tale of Arthur" by J.R.R Tolkien, and a collections of Shakespeare's writings and plays. I love reading stuff like that. It's just me. Whenever I go to the library I always head for the non-fiction section. It might drive some people crazy. But guess what? If they don't like it, that is their problem, not mine! I know that seems cold, but it's true. If someone doesn't like you, that's their problem. You shouldn't have to change who God made you to be in order for someone to like you. My birthday is in a week, I'm turning 18, and I'm just now learning this people! This is a PSA: You can only be the perfect you, because if you aren't the perfect you that Gd created, there never will be a "yo...

Next up- Basketball!!!!!

Okay, so basketball playoffs started... Whenever they started. I have no idea when they started because it seems like basketball is played year-round. And I googled the playoffs for the 2019 Basketball Playoffs and it didn't tell me when it started, it just told me that another game is being played tomorrow. So, who knows? All I know is that I shoot baskets with my brother for fun, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Shooting baskets is fun. Especially when you have friends that play basketball at school for the sports team likes to show off. It's hilarious because my brother and I miss the basket about... twelve times out of thirteen! Now that's just funny. Anyways, I like shooting baskets, especially if we turn it into a game of P.I.G. Or H.O.R.S.E. They're both fun. Anyways, that's all I have to say right now. I think maybe I'll start following the sports I don't follow, and drive my dad crazy with the obsession. So I guess I'll sign off. I k...

Let's Start With Baseball...

Okay, I am a huge baseball fan. We're talking HUGE! I love baseball so much. I can't play on a team, because there isn't enough kids in town to play with. So the few of us in town get together and throw the ball around, and we have a bat, so we practice batting as well. My brother and I are into it more than anyone.  So we get to hang out together, and throw a baseball at each other while talking. It is a great way to spend time with someone. Find something you both like, and just spend time doing it together. That's what my brother and I do. and we don't always do stuff that we both like. For instance, my job had an employee party, and we could invite someone to go with us, or 5 family members. But, that wouldn't get my whole family in. One person would have been left out. So I decided to invite just my brother, so we could have some sibling one on one time together. Now, I do like bowling. But my brother doesn't really like ...

What Happened....

So here is what has been going on for the past week and a half. Hopefully this will work out better than what I was thinking.  Okay, so let's start at the beginning, shall we? On Thursday, March 21st, 2019 I had a doctor's appointment. After the appointment my mom and I got into the car and started driving home. Mom was driving and I was in the passenger seat texting a couple of people. I was texting them because I was getting kind of depressed and was having some anxiety. Well, more than just "some" anxiety. Anyways, I was texting them. A couple of them were from work. One of them asked what I as doing, and I told him. I have been self harming for a couple of months, and not on my arms so that people can see. I've been doing it on my legs, so that no one would see the scars. Anyways, I told them all what I was getting ready to do. One of them told our boss, and the police were called. My mom and I got home, and she was taking my brother to a class with our h...

Writing, My New Schedule, and Some Considerations

Well, it is official. I am a Kansas State Finalist for National American Miss. And I am SUPER excited! I can't wait for August! This month is going to be crazy! There a lot of immediate family birthdays, and I am getting ready to start fundraising, I am trying to post consistently on my YouTube channel. I am hoping to start blogging more consistently. Which would be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to try to blog once per week, and that should actually happen. I will admit, college is getting a little bit hard. Actually not really. I thought it was supposed to challenge you, but I guess not. I mean, it might challenge some people, but I have been doing most of this stuff through High School. So I already know it. Besides that, I am thinking of dropping out of college. For a few reasons: 1) After this semester, I will have all of the credits I need to graduate high school. 2) I don't really know what field I want to go into. 3) It seems kind of stupid. I know enough to get by...

Pageants and Life. Where is the Reality?

So I am now entered into the Miss Kansas Local pageant. It is a part of the Miss America 2.0 system. I am super excited!!!! I am getting ready to go dress shopping, and I also have to get the $100 for the entrance fee. There will be a link at the bottom if you want to help me get that money raised. I will also include some instructions. Anyway! The thing that lead me to actually sign up was the fact that they are a non-profit system, while Miss USA is a  profit organization. All of the money that is raised as an entrance fee for the Miss America 2.0 system is actually given to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. That is awesome! I really like that. The next driving force to enter in the Miss Kansas Local was there is NO swimsuit competition. That is great! I am really self-conscious about my body. Mostly because it is not considered the perfect body. Hence, why I decided to enter AFTER they got rid of the swimsuit competition. While I hate the late night shows, I do agree wi...

Sherlock... Anyone else?

So I absolutely LOVE anything to do with a mystery. Unfortunately there aren't any good riddles on the Internet. How do I know that? Hmm, well let's just go off of the base that I am on Thanksgiving break and have absolutely NOTHING to do. So I checked out all four seasons of "Sherlock." The one with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and Dr. Watson. Well after I finished all four seasons of that (each episode is an hour and a half long, times four seasons equals... Too much math for a school break. Actually it is 4.8 hours. Or something like that. Like I said, too much math for a school break!) I decided to get online to test my ability to notice things and put it all together. Unfortunately that was a mistake. As far as I can tell there are about 20 "detective riddles" on the internet, and they just get rephrased over, and over, and over, and over again. B. O. R. I. N. G! I wish there really was a Sherlock Holmes around, because I am get...

Art Project... It's Not What You Think!

Image
You hear the words "Art project." What do you think of? Well when it comes to Interior Design at WSU Tech, it isn't painting a pretty picture. Way different. "Art Project" at WSU Tech is you are given a painting and you have to design around it. My painting is going to be below. It is going to be hard to design this, because we have two weeks, and we aren't just designing it. We are also writing design statements, putting together a board, make a time sheet, and write a letter of agreement. This stuff takes time. And I can't really focus with a lot of noise. So I'm going to be spending a lot of time telling my siblings to be quiet so I can get work done. Or maybe I can ask to use the back room at the library. Or I could ask if I can come  to Wichita to spend time at the campus, because it's quiet when we aren't in class. Sorry to my classmates, but you are being pretty loud. And it is distracting. Not that you guys will actually see thi...

My life is turning around... But is it for the better?

So I am taking several classes, and I'm doing better in college than I did in High School. What is up with that? So I was looking at my grades/ my report card and I am passing with As and Bs. In High School I was just barely passing with a borderline on C/D grade. So this is good. I am doing better in school, I'm having fun, and I'm succeeding in my classes. But I feel like I'm not succeeding in another area and that is my spiritual walk. I can kind of see why many people stop walking with the LORD when they enter college. I am overloaded with homework, and it seems like there isn't enough time to do anything other than school work. But I am making myself set my priorities straight. For instance, I used to do so much volunteer work people thought I was crazy. But now I can't do that stuff anymore because of all of my work. It is paying off, but I miss spending hours in the library shelving books, checking things in, helping people find a specific book, making...

My AWESOME Color Theory Classmates

So if anyone knows me at this point in my life, they know that I am taking Interior Design courses. In Color Theory classmates are AMAZING!!!!!!! Doing our understanding color schemes project board, almost everyone made one to two mistakes on their board. Yet silly me! I made at least four or five. Everyone is doing an amazing job! With the Make A Design Difference or MADD Project, we were supposed to go to a non profit organization and critique their design schemes and such. My team and I went to the on Army, but it wasn't a store. It was an office that dealt mostly with financial and legal aid for poor and homeless people. It was also an office that dealt with foster care and adoption assistance. And there were no Salvation Army shields anywhere. And the Salvation Army is a Christian based organization. But there were no crosses ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lady that gave us a tour of the building was kind of like a manager of sort. She stressed that she wants more shields and most...

Final: In the bag!!!!!!

Last night I was SO stressed out because I had a final exam today for one of my college classes. But I just finished, and I passed with an 84. So now I can breathe. I was so stressed, I ended up getting a really bad headache, and I passed out. But now that I finished, everything is good. I am SUPER excited for my next class. Hopefully I do better in Fundamentals than I did in Color Theory. But I won't know until I start it. So now that I finished, I am able to just relax, and calm myself. Everyone has been telling me "Get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and don't focus on that one thing. If you do, you'll get even more stressed, and it won't be good for you." But you know what? The whole test was multiple choice. And I am pretty good at multiple choice. If I was  supposed to write it all out, and everything, I would have failed horribly. But I passed, and I am not stressed anymore. Except for needing the design kit for my next class. But it c...

Soooooooo....... Guilty Post.

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. Life has been crazy lately. I'm working on starting my fundraising for my next pageant. And I have college. And my room is in DESPERATE need of cleaning. So why am I sitting here blogging about it instead of doing it? Well, I am doing it, I'm just taking a break to write it all down. Why not post it on my blog, instead of just putting on my screen as a reminder? I haven't posted in awhile, and life is just... Overwhelming, you know what  I mean? I have a project due on Monday that I haven't finished. Why not? Because I can't find the laminate countertops that I need. They have to have the under tones of the color scheme that I am working with, but GUESS WHAT????? NO ONE CARRIES THEM!!!!!!!!!! I literally looked at Lowe's, Sutherland's, Home Depot (Yech), and Menards. NO LAMINATES IN THE RIGHT COLORS OR UNDERTONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with these places? I was depending on them so I wouldn't...
