The Next Day...
Sooo... This is DEFINITELY the day that the LORD has made.
So right now, I am in Sedan with some friends, teaching a 5-Day Club. (As you should know if you read yesterday's post.) So I was just watching Gifted with Chris Evans, and McKenna Grace. ANYWAY I won't give you the whole run-down, but it is basically about a little girl, who can do some of the hardest math problems EVER, and she lives with her uncle after her mother commits suicide. But it got me thinking... Because she asked her uncle if there is a God. And I kind of like his explanation, but it could use some work. I mean, he wasn't a Christian( as far as we viewers can tell) and so it isn't SUPER justified, but I'll let it slide this time. So I will type it out, kind of like you might see in a script. Here goes nothing...
Mary: Is there a God?
Frank: I don't know.
Mary: Just tell me.
Frank: I would if I could. But I don't know. And neither does anybody else.
Mary: Roberta knows.
Frank: No. Roberta has faith. It's a great thing to have, but faith is about what you think, feel. Not what you know.
Mary: What about Jesus?
Frank: Love that guy. Do what he says.
Mary: But, is he God?
Frank: I don't know. I have an opinion. But that's my opinion. I could be wrong. So why would I screw up yours? Use your head, but don't be afraid to believe in things either.
So, I think that there is some potential here. Some people will admit that they don't know if there is a God. Some people just want to adopt someone else's point of view. So that is why Frank told Mary that he has an opinion, and to use her head, and why he told her that he didn't want to screw up her point of view, or her opinion. Some people actually care about others, but they aren't Christians. They think if they are wrong, then they don't want someone they love to make the same mistake that they did. In the New Testament, in Luke 16: 22-31. I'll type it out as it is in the Bible.
22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us. 27 And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house- 28 for I have five brothers- so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment' 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ' If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.'
As you can see, the rich man in this passage didn't want his brothers to make the same mistake that he made. A lot of people have that same point of view. If they mess up, then they don't want their friends, and family to make the same mistake. But it is sad, because a lot of people use their life to not find out if there actually is a God. I am hoping that at some point we, as Christians, will make it known that we believe what we do, not because of what we see, but by what we DON'T see. You should know what I am talking about. I am not always a practicing Christian, but I want to work harder at being a practicing Christian. I want God to use me to share His story. I want to be one of many. I don't want you to be one of the people who says, 'Oh! well I did this, on this day, at this time, and I did it for You, God!' and God says, 'I don't know you.' I am one of those people who does that, but I want to work hard, and hopefully, I won't be that person that God says, 'I don't know you.' That is the worst thing that could happen to you, and to me.
There is a song that I really like. I mean it is kind of a song. You can look it up on YouTube. it is called 'The Courtroom' and it was done by Carman. I really like it, because it can really make you think. Are you living, so that other people can see God is the One who is in control of your life? Or do they see themselves, and what they are doing? I know lately people haven't seen God in my life, but in the next 4 weeks, I hope to change that. My pageant is in 4 weeks, and I hope to be more dedicated to reading my Bible, praying, and showing God's love to others. If nothing else, I want to be able to read my Bible everyday. Hopefully, starting that way, and reading my Bible will start a chain reaction with the other two. If you have any questions, you can leave a comment, and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. There is no guarantee that I will be online everyday, or even every few days. I might do a post, and show you what I have been learning in my Bible study. And I will do a progress report on my pageant, and my prep stuff. I am actually behind schedule right now, and I don't know if I am ready. But I am trusting God, and that He will get me through this crazy summer.
